This is about the same amount that was set aside past fiscal year, said County Administrator Richard Flora.
Virginia Department of Transportation officials prepared the expenditure list that the supervisors approved Tuesday.
A large portion of the allocation - $200,000 - is for improvements to Virginia 626, an unpaved road, while $64,500 is designated for improvements to Virginia 606, and $17,918 is designated for Virginia 621.
The remaining portion of the money is set aside for work on new rural roads that will be taken into the secondary system during the year, and for safety devices and pipe installation at road construction sites and for survey and preliminary engineering.
Craig County has 180 miles of secondary roads. Forty-five of them are unpaved. Throughout Virginia, roads with numbers 600 and above are secondary. Those with numbers below 600 are primary highways. In Craig, primary highways are those numbered 18, 42 and 311.

Approved a contract with the Woods Heating & Air Conditioning Company of Roanoke to install air conditioning in the county office building at a cost of $11,090.
