SCHOOL BOARD OFFICERS REMAIN SAME IN CRAIG

James Cady will remain chairman, and Thomas Zimmerman will stay as vice chairman.

The board also reappointed Virginia Givens as clerk and designated Superintendent Dallas Helems as deputy clerk. Thomas Key was reappointed as the board's attorney.

The board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Craig County High School, except in November, which is election day. The November meeting will be on the second Tuesday.

In other business:

Helems reported that two modular buildings set up to relieve classroom crowding are nearly ready. Before schools resume in September, the buildings will be connected by a breezeway and beautified with foundation plantings.

The board decided not to alter a recently adopted policy that requires high school seniors with jobs to remain in classes at least until 1 p.m. The board had a request from one student who wanted to be released earlier.
