TECH CONFERENCE ON EXOTIC PLANTS

A conference on "Invasive Exotic Plants: Contemporary Issues and Options" will be held Aug. 12-13 at Virginia Tech.

This conference will offer solutions to the rapid spread of exotic plants, such as using natural insect pests and chemicals for control. Other issues that will be discussed are the impact these plants have on Virginia's native ecosystems, how Virginia is learning to deal with these plants, and landscaping with native plants.

The conference is sponsored by Tech's Department of Horticulture, the Virginia Native Plant Society, the Virginia Nurserymen's Association, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and Riverbend Nursery in Riner.

For registration materials, contact J.S. Gordon, Donaldson Brown Continuing Education Center, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va. 24061-0104 or telephone 231-5241.
