OBIT COX, ALEC BOYD

COX, Alec Boyd, 70, of Max Meadows (the Fort Chiswell Community), died Thursday, July 8, 1993 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Wilkes Co., N.C. the son of the late Tyree Monroe and Martha Ann Settle Cox. He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Salem, the former owner of Jackson Motel, Wytheville and a well driller. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Anderson Cox; one daughter, Myra Colaner of New Philadelphia, Ohio; one granddaughter, Davian Colaner; one great-grandson, Alec John Colaner; two sisters, Fannie Lyon of Ronda, N.C., Nina Smith of Elkin, N.C.; one new-found niece, Joyce Gravley of Max Meadows; a very dear friend, Peggy Shores of Wytheville; several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
