OBIT-THURMAN, ELMO GARDNER

THURMAN, Elmo Gardner, 84, of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 10, 1993, in a local hospital. He was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church and former owner of Rivermont Garage. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Yates Thurman. Surviving are his sister, Ocie T. Bowles; one niece, Odessa Poor; two nephews, Howard L. Bowles, all of Newport News, and W. Shelton Thurman, Vinton. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 1993, with the Rev. Charles Hoffler officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
