RHODES, Danny Lynn Sr., 47, of 1313 Winston Drive, Salem, died Friday, July
9, 1993, after a long illness. He was born in Salem, son of the late Emory L.
Rhodes and Zana Johnson Rhodes. He was retired from the Virginia Department of
Transportation and attended Mount Past Baptist Church. He was a member of the
Roanoke Moose Lodge and South Salem Booster Club. He was founding president of
Chapter 81 of the VVA. He was a coach and directed and coordinated the youth
sports. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Pamela J. Rhodes; three sons,
Danny L. Rhodes Jr., Joshua Emer Rhodes, Patrick M. Johnson and wife Robin;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheilia R. and Christopher Clowser, Melissa R.
and Byron Miles of Richmond; a sister, Linda A. Rhodes; three grandchildren,
Matthew Timothy Johnson, Samatha Charlotte Clowser, Alison Renee Miles; a
beloved niece, Tammy. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at
the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Officiating is the Rev. Robert
Chittum. Burial will be in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will
receive friends Sunday at the Funeral Home from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. John M.
Oakey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
