CHIN MUSIC WAS NOT WELCOMED

ONCE AGAIN we enjoyed a lovely Fourth of July celebration at Victory Stadium. The Youth Symphony should be extremely proud of its performance. It's wonderful to see so many young people putting their talents to good use. The chorus was a treat to listen to, and the fireworks were spectacular - the best yet.

However, the evening was marred, once again, by Stan Kingma's refusal to put the microphone down once the fireworks began. His running commentary was annoying, to say the least. While I agree that everyone should be applauded for their hard work, please say your "thank you's" before the fireworks begin. Please use the off switch next year. JAN and MARTIN MEISTER ROANOKE
