NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

CLYDE SMYTHERS has been named assistant vice president and branch manager of Charter Federal Savings Bank at 111 E. Roanoke St. in Blacksburg.

A New River Valley native and graduate of Virginia Tech, Smythers has an extensive background in lending, particularly commercial loans, business development and residential construction.

Board-certified ear, nose and throat specialist Dr. MICHAEL J. SAMSON is joining the medical staff of Pulaski Community Hospital.

Samson received his medical degree from George Washington University and residency training from Harvard Massachusetts Eye and Ear.

His office is in the Pulaski Medical Arts Building, 101 First St.

\ JIM TYNAN of Nationwide Insurance in Christiansburg will be honored at a company conference to be held this summer in San Francisco. Tynan is being recognized for superior sales management and customer service work in his district.

\ JEANNE GUTCHES of Blacksburg has been promoted to sales associate for CCS Data Station, the New River Valley's oldest computer firm. JOHN LUSHER has joined the staff as a sales associate. He has more than a decade of sales experience.
