OBIT SAUNDERS, BERTIE LOU EPLIN

SAUNDERS, Bertie Lou Eplin, 91, of Narrows, died Sunday, July 11, 1993, in the Riverview Nursing Home. Mrs. Saunders was born in Brush Fork, W.Va. on October 18, 1902, and was a daughter of the late Elba and Mary Ellen Eplin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Saunders; and one sister; and one brother. She was a member of the Jesus Church of Clendenin. She is survived by six sons, Luther Saunders, Zepherhills, Fla., John W. Saunders, New Port Richie, Fla., Elmer L. Saunders, Bangkok, Thailand, Clyde L. Saunders, Staffordsville, Harold H. Saunders, Zepherhills, Fla., Carl E. (Mickey) Saunders, Narrows; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Masil) Hite, Fort Smith, Ark.; Mrs. Franklin (Shirley) Smith, Peterstown, W.Va.; Mrs. Raymond (Donna) Chipana, Montclair, Calif.; one brother, Alva Eplin, Fla.; one sister, Gertie Adkins, Huntingston, W.Va.; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 15, 1993, 11 a.m. in the Jesus Church of Clendenin, with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating, with interment in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home, Pearisburg Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
