OBIT KNIGHTON, BEVERLY WILKERSON

KNIGHTON, Beverly Wilkerson, 78, of Salem, died Tuesday, July 13, 1993, at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Lynchburg, and was a graduate of Longwood College. She is survived by her husband, Alton L. Knighton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alton L. Knighton Jr. and Susan K. Knighton of Roanoke, Charles T. Knighton of Richmond; two grandsons, Alton L. Knighton III, Jefferson C. Knighton, both of Roanoke; a sister, Elizabeth W. Koontz of Salem; a brother, Charles B. Wilkerson of Salem; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 7 to 9. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Salem on Thursday, July 15, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas L. Joyce and the Dr. Robert T. Copenhaver officiating. A private burial will preceed the memorial service. Those wishing to make memorial gifts may make them to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3241 Electric Road, SW Roanoke, VA 24016. John M. Oakey & Son in Salem is in charge of arrangements.
