Ayers, a three-year starter for Carroll County and a 1990 graduate of Erskine College, is getting his first coaching experience with the Blue Devils. He earned a master's degree in special education from Radford in 1992.
"Experience is a good teacher," said Ayers, 24. "I think what I lack in experience, I'll make up in enthusiasm."
Cormany, who coached Grayson County for five years, left to take a guidance position at Radford High School.
