WOMAN CHARGED IN HUSBAND'S DEATH

An 80-year-old Pulaski County woman has been charged in the shooting death of her 79-year-old husband.

Stella Mae Jones Pagan was released on bond Wednesday evening after being charged with murder and using a gun to commit a felony.

Her husband, Walter Herman Pagan, died during surgery at Pulaski Community Hospital.

Capt. Donnie Simpkins of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office said Walter Pagan had been shot with a .22-caliber revolver. It was unclear where and how many times Pagan had been shot.

Stella Pagan reported the shooting on Case Knife Road shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Pagan faces arraignment in Pulaski County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on July 29. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 19.
