OBIT SPENCER, HERBERT N.

SPENCER, Herbert N., 73, of Roanoke, died Wednesday July 14, 1993, at a local hospital. He was a retired police officer with the City of Roanoke, and a retired manager of the adjustor department of Signet Bank. Mr. Spencer was a member of the Villa Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Eva M. Spencer; three sisters, Mary Strickland, Roanoke, Daisy Williams, Portsmouth, Myrtle Meador, Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Jim Spencer, Jacksonville, Fla.; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews; and a niece who was like a daughter, Carolyn B. Price, Roanoke. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, noon Friday, with the Rev. Harold C. Lewis and the Rev. J. Landon Maddex officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
