IN SCHOOL

JANE W. COOPER, vice principal of Roanoke Catholic High School, was voted Outstanding Teacher of the United States Constitution by the John Marshall Foundation. She was selected for her knowledge of the Constitution and her excellence in teaching the Constitution at the secondary school level. She received a $1,000 check in recognition of her achievement.

\ SANDRA JOHNSTON, welding instructor at the Gibboney Technical Center of Patrick Henry High School, has been nominated for the national American Welding Society Educator of the Year for 1993 and for the National Certified Welding Inspector for 1993.

\ THE AIR FORCE JUNIOR ROTC UNIT of Patrick Henry High School donated $500 to area Special Olympic athletes that competed in the state games June 11-13. It raised the money through its annual spring fling in May.

\ SERENA NICOLE FRAZIER BEEDIE, who graduated with honors from Hollins College in May, has received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. The award recognizes good sportswomanship, dedication and leadership. Beedie was selected from 13 nominees representing various ODAC colleges. She was captain of her volleyball and basketball teams and a member of Alpha Kappa Delta international honor society in sociology.
