NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS ERIC L. BURFORD, son of Andrew M. Burford and Frances E. Tyree, both of Roanoke, has been deployed aboard the guided missile cruiser USS San Jacinto, stationed in Norfolk, for Baltic Operations 93, a U.S. multinational exercise conducted annually in the Baltic for more than 20 years.

\ AIRMAN 1ST CLASS MONICA R. BARNETT, daughter of Linda M. Barnett of 142 Clubhouse Drive and Terry and Vicki A. Barnett of 6271 Nell Circle, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. She is stationed at Altus Air Force Base, Okla.

She is a 1989 graduate of Northside High School and received an associate degree from Virginia Western Community College.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS DAVID I. HUNTER, a 1979 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, has participated aboard the aircraft carrier USS America, stationed in Norfolk, in "Ocean Venture 93," an Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard training exercise.

\ SGT. WAYNE R. JONES, son of David R. and Janet C. Jones of 3833 Bower Road S.W., reported for duty at Headquarters and Service Battalion, Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan.

Jones is a 1986 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
