Two designs tied for first place in commercial/industrial construction. They are the Century Station parking garage that was designed by Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern architectural firm and Bedford County Administration Building designed by Hatfield & Holcomb with Hughes & Associates, consulting architects.
J.M. Turner & Company was the general contractor for the parking garage, and Thompson Masonry Contractors Inc. was the masonry contractor. Old Virginia Brick supplied the materials.
John W. Daniels was the general contractor for the administration building, and Masonry Contractors Inc. was the masonry contractor. General Shale Brick supplied the materials.
First Baptist Church, designed by Hatfield & Holcomb with consulting architects Hughes & Associates, received award for the religious/institutional construction project. The Turner company also was the general contractor, and Thompson also was the masonry contractor.
