CLEVELAND BANK DROPS VIRGINIA DEAL

First Virginia Banks Inc. and Cleveland Bank & Trust Co. said Thursday that their agreement to affiliate has been terminated.

They said the board of Cleveland Bank & Trust, based in Cleveland, Tenn., "decided not to enter into a definitive agreement."

The agreement had been announced June 24. First Virginia, which has banks throughout Western Virginia, is based at Falls Church. - Staff report
