OBIT-DICKERSON, WILLIAM GALE
DICKERSON, William Gale, of Daleville, died Wednesday, July 14, 1993, at
his home. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Fincastle, Lakeland
Lodge #190 A.F.&A.M., a Scottish Rite Bodies, and Kazim Temple Shrine. He was
born in Roanoke and was the son of Gertrude and Harry Hudson Dickerson, and
was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Corporation. Mr. Dickerson was a
World War II veteran, and in the 29th Infantry Division, and participated in
the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He is survived by his wife,
Nancy Sproles Dickerson; a daughter, Nancy Dickerson Dexter; two
grandchildren, David Sproles, and Hilary Kathleen Dexter. Funeral services
will be conducted from St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Fincastle, 1 p.m.
Saturday, July 17, 1993, with the Rev. Harmon Smith officiating. Burial will
be in Evergreen Burial Park, with Masonic Rites by Lakeland Lodge #190. Those
desiring to send flowers may do so, however, donations may be made to the
Troutville Rescue Squad or to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Fincastle. The
family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Oakey's North
Chapel.
