OBIT-HUTCHENS, JACK JUNIOR

HUTCHENS, Jack Junior, 67, of Roanoke, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 14, 1993. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and was retired from the N&W Railroad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Whorley Hutchens and a son, John Michael Hutchens. Survivors include two sons, Jack Wayne Hutchens of Broadway, Paul Douglas Hutchens of Roanoke; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Pat) Herndon of Roanoke, Jeannie Workman of Winston Salem, N.C., Mrs. Gus (Pam) Vandergrift, Alvie Thurston, both of Roanoke; three brothers and their spouses, James C. and Charlotte Hutchens, Billy J. and Catherine Hutchens, David L. and Connie Hutchens, all of Roanoke; four sisters and their spouses, Edna Thomas of Roanoke, Ruby H. and Ralph Shelor of New Castle, Jenny H. and Fred Shiplett, Mildred H. Newby, all of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held noon Friday, July 16, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Freeman Hamrick will officiate. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call Lotz Vinton Chapel.
