Saturday night's Mountain Dew 300 marks the halfway point of the 1993 season at Franklin County Speedway, and a race that features an all-woman field, highlights the racing card.

The Modified Division, which runs every other week, also is scheduled to compete. A full card of eight classes is scheduled.

Gates open at noon, qualifying starts at 6 p.m. and the first race starts at 8. Admission is $5, and children under 10 are admitted free.

The third 200-lap race in the $50,000 Late Model Stock Car Challenge Series will be run tonight, highlighting the Basham/F&L Oil-Pennzoil 300 at New River Valley Speedway in Radford.

Returning for a repeat performance will be the four-member sky-diving team, who will be landing on the start/finish line at 7:45 p.m.

In addition to the 200-lap feature event, there will be a 35-lap race for the Limited Sportsman along with a 25-lap race for the Modified Mini and Mini Stock divisions. The Pure Stock drivers have the weekend off.

Games open Saturday at 2 p.m., with practice starting at 4. Qualifying begins at 6:15, with the first race starting at 8. Admission is $8 for adults and $1 for children 10 and under.

John Frazier and Ronnie Snoddy, the new owners of New River Valley Speedway, announced twin 100-lap Late Model Stock Car races have been added to the existing schedule.

They will be held Saturday night, July 31, as part of Hoechst-Celanese employees night. The top six finishers in the first event will be inverted to begin the second race.
