BLACKSBURG'S CONVENTIONAL MISTAKE

WHY WERE Blacksburg residents not asked their positions on the desirability of a large motor-coach convention coming to their town? There will be congestion, litter and less safety on our streets because of the decision by a handful of people who only have dollar signs in their eyes.

Read this newspaper as the time draws near and reflect on the thousands of vehicles and their impact on our community, however temporary. Then ask yourself: "Was I taken into consideration?" In a democracy, we should all be. The almighty dollar, however, prevails, and environmental costs will be swept under the rug. The probability of additional accidents in our town and neighboring Christiansburg will certainly increase during this convention.
