NICKELSTON-JOHNSON

Pauline Adkins Johnson of Ferrum and Charles Richard (Rick) Nickelston of Rocky Mount were united in marriage June 5, 1993, at 2:00 p.m., in St. Peters Episcopal Church, Callaway, with the Rev. Carol Johnston, sister of the groom, the Rev. Melvin Maxey and the Rev. Chris Payden-Travers officiating. Thesanctuary was decorated with magnolia leaves, palms and candelabra, withflower arrangements of pink miniature carnations, larkspur, daises and baby's breath. The reception was held at Phoebe Needles Center, Callaway. The bride,given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Alex Adkins, wore an ivory gown with lace bodice and sleeves, beaded appliques and full organza skirt with high-lowhemline. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, pink miniature carnations, white pom-poms, baby's breath and ivy. Honor attendant was Miss Annette Adkins of Rocky Mount, sister of the bride. She wore a fuchsia sizzle taffeta gown with scalloped neckline and high-low hemline. The bridesmaids were Miss KirstenHarrington of Roanoke, niece of the groom; and Mrs. Susan Rhodes of Duluth, Georgia, niece of the groom. Flowergirl was Miss Angie Davids, niece of the groom. The attendants gown's were ivory satin with lace sleeves and high-lowhemline. They carried bouquets ofminiature pink carnations, daises,monicasena, tree fern and leather leaf. The best man was Mr. Lewis Stump of Vinton, friend of the groom. Ushers were Mr. Wade Adkins of Rocky Mount, brother of the bride; and Mr. Glenn Wood of Roanoke, friend of the groom, Ringbearer was Mr. Larry Davids, nephew of the groom. Kathy Marlowe attended the guest register. Director of the wedding was Mr. Alan Jones. The Rose, The Wedding Song was sung by Mrs. Cheryl Eames, and The Lords Prayer was sung by Dr. Robert Strong. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Louise Adkins of Rocky Mount, and the late Mr. Eugene Adkins. She graduated from Franklin County High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. She isemployed by Franklin MemorialHospital. The groom is the son of Mrs. Hazel Secrist and the late Mr. Charles E. Nickelston, and stepson of Mr. Al Secrist of Roanoke. He graduated from Martinsville High School and Gupton-JonesCollege of Funeral Services, Atlanta, Georgia. He is employed by Oakey'sFuneral Service, Roanoke. The newlyweds are living in Ferrum, after their wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico.
