OBIT ROBERTSON, EARL GILBERT

ROBERTSON, Earl Gilbert, 71, of North Roanoke County, died Friday, July 16, 1993. He was a member of Airlee Court Baptist Church, was a retired employee of Appalachian Power Company with 45 years service, was a Data Processing supervisor, and was a retired captain of the U.S. Army Reserve Corp., after 20 years of service. During World War II, he was a B24 Bomber Pilot, with the 8th Airforce. During his military career he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, with three oak leaf clusters, two Commendation Medals, and one Meritorious Service Award. He is survived by his wife, Julia (Jody) Robertson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and David L. Layman, Lou Anne and Judge John B. Ferguson; one son, W. Lee Robertson, all of Roanoke; one brother, Fred W. Robertson, Virginia Beach; one sister, Mrs. Tom (Mildred) Foster, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Brent Stevens, Scott and Leigh Anne Layman, Andrew Ferguson. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside, Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Botetourt County, 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Eugene Burris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
