Aim to be early instead of on time. That gives you a cushion. Take a book along so you have a reward if you arrive early and a way to fill what Dru Scott, author of "How to Put More Time in Your Life," calls your "stimulation and excitement quota."
Get the facts. Figure out what it is that gets in your way of being on time. Is it because you have to iron a shirt in the morning or decide what to wear? Do it the night before. Are you alloting only 10 minutes to dry your hair when it actually takes 20?
Work backward. If you need to be somewhere at 4 p.m., figure everything you have to do to get ready and how long it will take to drive. If that amounts to one hour, then quit whatever you're doing at 3 and start getting ready.
Fudge. If you have a luncheon for noon, write down 11:45.
