MILL MOUNTAIN PLAY WINNER ANNOUNCED

The winner of the eighth annual Mill Mountain Theatre New Play Competition is Baltimore, Md., playwrite Paul Sambol.

Sambol's play, ``The Straight Man,'' was chosen from 425 entries this year. It is described as a fable set in today's world of comedy.

Some theatre-goers may be familiar with Sambol's work through seven staged readings at Mill Mountain in its monthly Centerpiece program.

This play, though, will be given the full treatment when it's produced and staged during the theatre's Norfolk Southern Festival of New Works opening Jan. 14-Feb. 6.
