ROANOKE TEAM SPLITS 2 ON EUROPEAN TRIP

The Roanoke Star White under-15 soccer team has split the first two games of its 18-day European trip.

Star director Danny Beamer said his team lost 3-0 to F.C. Wangen in Wangen, Germany, on Sunday, then beat Vogt in Vogt, Germany, 3-0 Tuesday. Brian Sharp, Donnie Smith and Patrick Barritt scored on Tuesday, and Michael Creasey got the shutout.

Beamer said F.C. Wangen is a Division 1 team, the highest ranking in German youth soccer. Vogt, he said, is Division 2.

The Star is scheduled to play Thursday preceding a professional game in Red White Essen, a stadium in Essen, Germany, that houses the Dortmund pro team.
