DEMOCRATS' ANNUAL PICNIC IS SATURDAY

Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, and state Democratic Party Chairman Mark Warner will be among the guests when the Montgomery County Democratic Party holds its annual summer picnic Saturday at the Montgomery County Park.

Joining Boucher and Warner will be Sylvia Clute, a challenger to U.S. Sen. Charles Robb for the Democratic nomination for the Senate next year.

Jim Shuler of Blacksburg and Howard Packett of Salem, Democratic candidates for the 12th District and 8th District House of Delegates seats this fall, also will speak, as will Board of Supervisors candidates Jim Moore, Jim Martin and Jim Smith.

Del. Joan Munford of Blacksburg and state Sen. Madison Marye of Shawsville also are scheduled to attend. Munford is retiring from her 12th District seat this year.

The park is off U.S. 460 near the midcounty landfill. The potluck picnic will be held at Shelter No. 1. A $5 donation is requested to cover expenses.
