IN SCHOOL

RICHARD GAYNOR, professor of mental health technology at Virginia Western Community College, has been selected as a Chancellor's Commonwealth Professor for 1993-95. The award was established to recognize and support teaching excellence in the state's community colleges.

The award provides an annual stipend of $2,500 so that the recipient may pursue a self-directed project.

Gaynor's project involves his work with Radford University to establish a bachelor's degree program in social work at Virginia Western that begins with the fall semester.

\ MARIANNE SADLER EBERT, academic development adviser in Roanoke College's learning center, has been recognized by the American College Testing/National Academic Advising Association as an regional outstanding adviser for 1993.

Ebert coordinates the learning center's peer tutoring program and teaches a freshman orientation course.
