RELIGION BRIEFS

THE REV. BARRY LELL has become pastor of Salem Church of the Nazarene at 3631 Evelyn Drive. Lell, 39, has come for a nine-year stay at Floyd Church of the Nazarene. Reared in Maryland, the new pastor was educated at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tenn. He is married to the former Debbie Dennis and is the father of two.

\ COLONIAL BIBLE INSTITUTE, a ministry of Colonial Baptist Church at Blue Ridge, is open for registration. The first classes will begin Friday at 7 p.m. The institute offers a diploma in general Bible studies for those who complete a three-year course in Old and New Testament and Christian history from conservative Christian perspective.

A certificate also is available for those who complete a year of selected courses. A nursery. Call 977-5683 for more information.

\ ELDER HARRY SHARLEY, formerly of Salem, will speak Saturday at 11 a.m. at North Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church. Sharley, now of Wytheville, is a former pastor of the Salem Adventist congregation. Lunch will follow the service. The congregation uses St. Paul Lutheran Church at 4909 North Lake Drive N.W. for its services.

\ WOMEN'S AGLOW FELLOWSHIP'S day group will hear a Salem woman, Linda Carper, speak on "Life Without Bars" at its meeting Wednesday. The event will be at the Woodmen of the World Building from 9:30 a.m. to noon. A $2 donation covers continental breakfast. Call 362-4849 or 362-4849 for reservations and child care.
