OBIT ZIMMERMAN, CARL D.

ZIMMERMAN, Carl D., 83, of Blue Ridge, died Wednesday, July 21, 1993, in a local hospital. He was a member and chairman of the board of deacons of the Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren. He was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railways Material Yard, and served for 30 years as treasurer of the Montvale Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Geneva Dooley Zimmerman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Bill McDaniel, Brentwood, Tenn., Rebecca and Jim Thomasson, Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Summer, and Jared McDaniel, Jennifer and Karen Thomasson. Mr. Zimmerman is also survived by a niece, Mrs. Marie Burkholder; a nephew, Mr. Jack Lucas; sister-in-law, Mrs. Hope Huddleston. Funeral services will be conducted from the Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 1993, with the Rev. Matthew Fike officiating. Burial will be in Glade Creek Cemetery, Botetourt Co. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund or the Montvale Volunteer Fire Department.
