POST 3 NORTH SLUGS PAST WEST

Kevin Saunders' three-run homer in the first inning started things off with a bang for Roanoke Post 3 North, which beat Post 3 West 13-3 on Friday in American Legion baseball. The game, played at William Byrd High School, was shortened to six innings because of the slaughter rule.

Shannon Gray added a homer and four RBI for North (13-3). Jeff Woodford drove in three runs, Doug Mundy was 2-for-3 and Gary Wiggins was 2-for-4.

Kelly Dampeer had a single and a home run, accounting for all of the runs for West (9-7).
