OBIT EARLY, ERNEST FRANKLIN
EARLY, Ernest Franklin, 90, of Roanoke, died July 23, 1993, at Friendship
Manor in Roanoke. Mr. Early was formerly of Broadway, born August 11, 1902,
near Harrisonburg and was the son of the late I. Claude and Mattie V. Rhodes
Early. He was a retired wholesale poultry broker. He was a member of the
Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway. He served as the Mayor of
Broadway from 1948-1968. He was a former Ruritan Club District Governor in
1948. On June 11, 1925, he married the former Sadie Miller who survives. Also
surviving are three daughters, Doris Smith of Churchville; Corinne Crumley of
Roanoke; Ann McDermott of Richmond; two sons, E. Franklin Early of Roanoke;
Frederick S. Early of McLean; a brother, Isac D. Early of Harrisonburg; 15
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Sylvus Flora will conduct a
memorial service Monday, 1 p.m. at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren
in Broadway. A private burial was held earlier. The family will receive
friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
