67 PICKETS ARRESTED; UMW EXPANDS STRIKE

State police Monday arrested 64 United Mine Workers pickets on trespassing charges after they blocked the entrance to a company mine in southern West Virginia.

Meanwhile, the union expanded its walkout that began May 10, ordering 1,000 miners in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia to join 16,000 others on strike against members of the Bituminous Coal Operators Association.

Pennsylvania State Police said they arrested three West Virginia strikers they accused of chasing a rock dust delivery truck from a Monongalia County, W.Va., mine across the state border and ramming vehicles escorting the truck. - Associated Press
