JEFFERSON FOREST REVISING USE PLAN

The Jefferson National Forest will hold a public meeting tonight on the management of the forest for diverse uses such as timber, recreation and wildlife.

Forest officials are undertaking a revision of the forest management plan, which is required every 10 years.

The public - including representatives from government, industry, environmental and civic groups - is invited to the meeting to learn more about the forest plan, said forest spokesman Dave Olson. Citizens have until Sept. 7 to comment on the first phase of the plan's revision.

The meeting is scheduled to run from 7 to 9:30 p.m at the Sheraton Airport Inn.
