OBIT TURPIN, LILLIAN WILLIAMS

TURPIN, Lillian Williams, 89, of 610 W. Franklin St., Wytheville, died Monday, July 26, 1993, at her residence. She was the widow of H. Lee Turpin Jr. Mrs. Turpin was an active member of the Wytheville Presbyterian Church and in her community at large, which she served in a volunteer capacity. She held offices in local, district, and state levels in Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of Colonial Wars in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James P. Kelly, Salisbury, Md.; three granddaughters, Mrs. Ronald Settle, Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Marc Siegel, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Curtis Kind, Windsor, Calif.; one grandson, Nicholas P. Oglesby Jr., Alexandria, Va.; and four great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Wytheville Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Wingard, and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Sproule, with the interment to follow in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Boydton, Va. at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Grubb Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions may be made to Wytheville Presbyterian Church or to American Cancer Society. The Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
