OBIT RAMSEY, WILLIAM LEE
RAMSEY, William Lee, 88, of Rt. 1, Box 88, Raphine, died at 1:55 p.m.
Tuesday, July 27, 1993, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. He was
born in August 1, 1904, in Augusta County. He is the son of the late Christian
L. and Signora (Bradley) Ramsey. He was a retired engineer of Norfolk and
Western Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of the Vesuvius Baptist Church;
and he a Mason and a member of Augusta Lodge No. 111 for 50 years. He was a
charter member of the Odd Fellows of Steeles Tavern. He was preceded in death
by his first wife, Mrs. Serena Belle Ramsey, in 1960; and his second wife,
Mrs. Lori Ramsey, in 1990. Mr. Ramsey is survived by three sons and two
daughters-in-law, Melvin T. and Naomi F. Ramsey of Rt. 1, Raphine, Luther E.
and Jimmie H. Ramsey and Richard L. Ramsey, all of Roanoke; seven
grandchildren, Thomas Ramsey, Sandra Yeager, David Ramsey, William Ramsey,
Richard Ramsey, Barbara Wheeler, and Greg Sexton; two brothers, Raymond Ramsey
of Stuarts Draft and Russell Ramsey of Roanoke; and a sister, Miss Alma Ramsey
of Rt. 1, Raphine. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in
Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Dr. Robert D. Goshorn and the Rev.
Dan Stanley. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Henry
Funeral Home. The family suggests that those desiring may make memorial
donations to the Vesuvius Baptist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Mrs. Yvonne Fox,
