1 WORKER KILLED, 2 HURT IN SHIPYARD ACCIDENT

A construction worker was killed and another injured Thursday at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard when a concrete slab in a barracks they were refurbishing fell on them.

Ronald Page, 34, of Chesapeake, was hit by part of a concrete floor that was dislodged when workers were removing external brickwork from the barracks.

Page, an employee of B&H Sales Corp. of Norfolk, was working on the building's third-floor fire escape about 7:45 a.m. He was taken to Portsmouth General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. Another B&H employee, Algustus Thompson, was injured. - Associated Press
