NO CRIMINAL PROBE SET IN AIDS DENTIST CASE

A prosecutor decided against a criminal investigation suggested by state health investigators because the target, a dentist with AIDS who infected six patients, is dead.

State law allows prosecutors to pursue investigations only when a likelihood of criminal charges exists. State Attorney Bruce Colton said Thursday that Dr. David Acer's 1990 death makes that impossible.
