PILOT METHODIST CHURCH IS CELEBRATING ITS CENTENNIAL

PILOT METHODIST CHURCH is 100 years old!

An anniversary celebration will be held Sunday at the church, on Virginia 615 about eight miles from Christiansburg. The 11 a.m. worship service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Fred Austin, the United Methodist Church district superintendent.

A picnic lunch will follow at noon, and The Good Intentions and The Hylton Family will sing at 2 p.m.

Some former Pilot Methodist pastors are expected to be on hand for the occasion.

The church has about 80 members and is part of the Auburn United Methodist Charge. The Rev. Walt Zimmerman is pastor.

The calendar includes several HOMECOMING celebrations:

Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church, New River, Sunday. Sunday school is at 10 a.m., with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dale Wyrick will be the guest speaker, and The Whitts from Radford will sing. A potluck dinner will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Call Linda Hanshew, 639-0324.

White Rock Church of the Brethren, Virginia 740 in Alum Ridge, Sunday, with Sunday school at 10 a.m., worship and singing at 11 a.m., and a covered-dish lunch at 12:30 p.m.

Camp Bethel United Methodist Church, Virginia 679 in Floyd County, Aug. 8, with Sunday school at 11:30 a.m., a covered-dish dinner at 12:30 p.m., and singing at 2 p.m. The Rev. Lawrence Nuckolls will deliver a sermon after the singing.

The church welcomes members and former members of the former Bethlehem and Camp Creek United Methodist churches, which combined to form the Camp Bethel congregation.

Blacksburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, Warren and Center streets, Aug. 8, starting at 10:30 a.m. The Martin Family will sing. Dinner will be served on the church grounds with more singing to follow.

\ WHITE ROCK CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, Virginia 740 in Alum Ridge will hold revival services Aug. 8-13, with evangelist the Rev. Arnold Naff. Services and singing start at 7:30 each evening.

It's CAMP MEETING time at:

Bible Holiness Church, 611 S. Franklin St., Christiansburg, Aug. 5-15, with services daily at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and a children's service each evening at 6:30. Sunday services will be at 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. There will be a missionary service Aug. 15 at 2 p.m.

Aug. 29, the fifth Sunday service at Huffville, 11:15 a.m., will feature the Rev. Joe Willard.
