MONTGOMERY LANDFILL HAS MUCH CHEAP MULCH

It's the old rule of supply and demand: The Montgomery County landfill has an over-supply of mulch - almost 750 tons of it - and it needs to get rid of most of it by next summer.

The mulch is priced to go - at $15 a ton - and landfill crew members will even help you load it.

The surfeit of mulch resulted from the June storm that gave rise to a huge brush pile at the landfill. The county put its tub grinder to work to process the brush and other suitable material into mulch.

Now the county needs to remove at least 75 percent of it before next June to meet state Department of Environmental Quality recycling guidelines.
