COLLEGE OFFERING HOME STUDY

Thirteen home study courses will be offered this fall by Wytheville Community College starting Aug. 17, when all classes will meet at 7 p.m. in Grayson Hall Commons for course orientation and materials.

In these courses, students will not attend traditional classes but will work at home through learning modules that may contain print materials, audiotapes and videotapes, and other types of learning activities.

Two courses - principals of economics and child psychology - are telecourses via Blue Ridge Public Television.

Other transfer courses include two in U.S. history and two in U.S. government, and introduction to philosophy.

Courses for occupational students include applied accounting; small-business management; introduction to early childhood education; and health, safety and nutrition for young children. The last two are locally developed telecourses for child-care workers seeking the college's Child Development Career Studies Certificate.

Health courses include introduction to drug use and abuse and introduction to medical terminology.

Campus registration is 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Aug. 17. Further information is available from Dan Jones, chairman of the business, humanities and social science division, 228-5541, extension 235, or (800) 468-1195.
