ROANOKE WOMAN DIES IN ACCIDENT

An 18-year-old rising senior at Patrick Henry High School died Saturday night in an automobile accident in Bedford County.

Melissa Ann Scott was thrown from her four-wheel-drive vehicle when it ran off Virginia 122 about 8:20 p.m., state police said.

The vehicle overturned after striking an embankment. Scott was not wearing a seat belt, state police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scott was the daughter of Bill and Cathy Scott.
