OVERGROWN KID

``LET ME see those questions,'' Robert Downey Jr. snaps, plopping down on a sofa at the start of the interview. He impishly tugs at two pages in my relentless grip until the paper is crumpled.

As soon as Downey surrenders, the interview commences. Only he's the one asking the questions. ``Were you stoned when you wrote those?'' he says with mock consternation minutes later.

``Why, are they bad questions?'' I ask.

``No, actually they're very good questions,'' he says, a half-moon smile on his baby-fat face. ``I was kidding.''

Downey is famous for kidding. Antics are a part of his M.O., part of his ``Heck, don't mind me. I'm just an overgrown kid'' charm. And it is charming. Not obnoxious at all. Wholesomely refreshing.
