FALL FASHION SHOW SET AT VALLEY VIEW

Seventeen magazine is bringing its fall fashions to the Valley View Mall in Roanoke on Saturday.aug. 21

Expect to see five new looks, says Robyn Waldman, merchandising coordinator for the magazine. They are: ``Vintage,'' which is inspired by styles in granny's closet with rich colors and velvets. ``Retroactive'' incorporates the wide jeans, bright colors and stripes popular in the '60s and '70s. ``Street Smarts'' is a mixture of hip-hop, grunge and bohemian styles. ``The Big Easy'' is feminine loosefitting clothes with long skirts, wide pants and Edwardian-style blazers. And ``College Days'' is a preppy, military-style look.

The show brings to life the back-to-school fashion spread in the August issue of Seventeen, says Waldman, who hosts the event. She compiles the "Where-to-Buy" section each month for the magazine. Waldman says this is the first time Seventeen has organized a fashion show in Roanoke. "It's nice to bring the fashions to the public," she says.

Roanoke Valley models will wear the styles provided by Leggett Department Store. The event is free and begins at 2 p.m. at the Leggett entrance on the mall's upper level.
