The Mail, quoting unidentified "close friends" of the Princess of Wales, reported that Diana hopes to secure a divorce through a clause in a 1973 matrimonial law. The law says couples have proper grounds for divorce if they have lived apart for at least five years.
Diana's separation from Charles was announced last December after 11 years of marriage. It was asserted then that a full divorce wasn't in the cards until December 1994, if ever. The Mail reports that an earlier divorce would be based on "Diana's claim that she and Charles have in effect not been man and wife" since February 1987.
