OBIT MARTIN, JANET MORGAN

MARTIN, Janet Morgan, 83, of 318 E. Michigan St., Covington, died Sunday, August 15, 1993. She was born May 29, 1910 in Princeton, W. Va., the daughter of the late Russell and Barbara Kent Morgan and stepdaughter of the late Emma Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Martin, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Sue Crawford and two infant sons, Johnny and Freddie Martin. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Bill (Edith) Daniel, Lynchburg, Mrs. Louis (Vera) Showalter, Troutville, Mrs. Leon (Rita) Slate, Roanoke; five sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. Bill (Elva) Martin, Conyers, Ga., Mr. Edwin (Patsy) Martin, Mr. Sam (Carol) Martin, Mr. Norman (Wanda) Martin, Mr. Jerry L. Martin, all of Covington; twenty-five grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Ina Poage, Roanoke, Mrs. Earl (Faye) Shafer, Caldwell, W. Va., Ms. Wanda Morgan, Ocala, Fla., Mrs. Vera Armentrout, Anstead, W. Va., Mrs. Arnold (Bonnie ) Tingler, Covington, Ga., Mrs. Sue Lim of Maryland, Mrs. Joe (Jewel) Johnson, Bluefield; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Madeline Morgan, Ronceverte, W. Va., Mrs. Polly Morgan, Covington, Mrs. Eva Morgan, Coche, Okla., Mrs. Mary Honaker, Ronceverte, W. Va. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Bush officiating. Interment will be in Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions be made in the name of Mrs. Martin to the Fincastle Rescue Squad, Fincastle, Va.
