The Alleghany Dunbar Lodge 109 F. & A. Masons has elected officers for the 1993-94 term.
James C. Taylor was elected worshipful master. Other officers include Donnell Freeman Jr., senior warden; James A. Sawyer, junior warden; Robert R. Johnson, treasurer; William W. Taborn Jr., secretary; William C. Keen, senior deacon; Sherman Taylor, junior deacon; Bobby Muse, chaplain; Frank Robinson, marshall; George Berry, senior steward; and Llewellyn Thompson, junior steward.
Roanoker appointed to district Elks post
Steve Nelson of Roanoke has been appointed District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the 197th lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. The Elks have 250 districts in the United States.
As a district deputy, Nelson will work with the national Elks leader in promoting and coordinating charity, scholarship, drug awareness, veterans and patriotism programs.
AMVETS officers also named to state posts
Several recently elected officers of the Gary L. Francisco Memorial AMVETS Post 89 in Salem have been elected to state offices and to the state executive committee.
Robert Mitchell, who was recently elected commander of the Salem post, was elected state finance officer.
William Capps, senior vice commander, was elected state chaplain; and Claude "Bud" Stump Jr., junior vice commander was elected to the state finance committee. Enid Anderson, adjutant and finance officer, was named alternate national executive committeeman; and William Martin, service officer, was named president of the state Service Foundation.
