OBIT GILBERT, ELBERT DALTON

GILBERT, Elbert Dalton, 77, of Radford passed away Wednesday evening, August 17, 1993 at his home. He was a retired Assistant Area Supervisor with Hercules, Inc., a former Deacon at The Radford First Christian Church, and a 32nd Degree Mason with the William Burchfield Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Bess Puckett Gilbert of Radford; his daughter, Linda Gilbert Craig of Radford, his son, Dr. Daniel Dalton Gilbert of Louisville, Ky.; two special grandsons, Gregory Dalton Gilbert of Lynchburg and Christopher Smith Gilbert of Raleigh, N.C.; and the grandson for whom he lovingly served as Substitute Father, Virginia State Trooper Gilbert Todd Bedwell of Arlington. He is also survived by other special grandchildren, Linda Anderson of Spartanburg, S.C.; "B" Gilbert, Sevoir, Ill., and Anne Elizabeth Hall of Santa Cruz, Calif. Surviving are many other loving relatives and friends, including a sister, Mrs. Boone Powers of Lebanon. The funeral will be held at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home on Friday, August 20, 1993 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. DeVilbiss Funeral Home is handling arrangements and the family will receive friends there Thursday evening from 7 to 9 as well as, at the family residence at Route 4, Box 27, Riverbend Drive, Radford.
