OBIT MCGHEE, RACHEL RECTOR

MCGHEE, Rachel Rector, 95, of Seven Mile Ford, died Sunday, August 22, 1993, in Francis Marion Manor, Marion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall McKinley McGhee and a son, R. M. McGhee Jr. She was a retired school teacher from Mount Carmel and Seven Mile Ford Schools, a member of the Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Church, where she was a teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class and Treasurer of the Church for many years, a member of the Smyth County Home Demonstration Club. She retired as Post Master of the Seven Mile Ford Post Office after 37 years of postal service. Survivors include one sister, Mildred Dungan of New Orleans, La.; one daughter-in-law, Mildred Matthews McGhee of Seven Mile Ford; two grandsons, Thomas W. McGhee of Chilhowie and Alan D. McGhee of Bristol; two granddaughters, Linda M. O'Quinn of Raleigh, N.C. and Rita M. Blevins of Draper; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff W. Wright and the Rev. Rita White officiating. Burial will be in Middle Fork Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Walker, Donnie Coley, A. L. Dungan Jr., Leon Atwell, Richard Walker and Ralph Jackson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Church, c/o W. T. Hicks Jr., P.O. Box 292, Chilhowie, VA 24319. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie. The body will be taken to the Church one hour before services.
