OBIT GERLAND, MRS. FRANK (EDNA) JACOBS MURPHY

GERLAND, Mrs. Frank (Edna) Jacobs Murphy, 85, of Goodview, died Tuesday, August 24, 1993. Mrs. Gerland was an Avon representative in the Chamblissburg and Goodview areas for over 35 years and was a charter member of Chamblissburg Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred H. Jacobs; a stepgrandson, Michael McRoberts; and two husbands, Willie L. Jacobs and Walter L. Murphy. She is survived by her husband, Frank S. Gerland; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley J. and Bobby J. Cooper of Vinton; four sons and daughters-in-law, William L. (Bill) and Joann Jacobs of Chamblissburg, Richard A. Dick and Ann Jacobs of Scottsdale, Ariz., Donald R. and Sharron Jacobs of Woodbine, Md., Cecil H. and Sandra Jacobs of Vinton; two stepdaughters, Carolyn M. Price and Patricia M. Pruett, both of Roanoke; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Gertrude Wolfe of Altavista, Henry and Ruth Wolfe of Roanoke; three sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred Palmer of Roanoke, Ruth Kirby of Bedford, Kate & Bill Willis of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, 1993, at noon, Chamblissburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Falls and Rev. A.C. Hollins Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lotz Vinton Chapel, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
